About Lane

While in college, I discovered a passion for turoring and teaching other students. I worked as a Peer Educaor for three years where I taught classes on student health and I tutored classmates throughout high school and college. In college, I majored in psychology and minored in criminology. I also took AP classes in high school as well as honors classes in college. I am most familiar with U.S. History, U.S. Government, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, and general social studies classes. I also took APUSH, AP Gov, and AP Pscyhology in high school. I graduated in the top 15% of my class in high school and I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 in college.

I also have extensive research experience, I have written an award winning APA paper, and I have worked in a research setting.

I love helping other students grasp new material, and I find myself to be a patient and caring teacher. I have worked with students from 5 years old to 65 years old and I am ready to help each student learn in their own unique way!

I have my B.S. in Psychology and while in school I took many classes on evelopment and classes on HOW we as humans learn. I also tutored many of my peers while in high school and in college. I also taught classes on health education on my college campus.

About the lesson

The first thing I do is get to know the student and allow for them to get to know me. I feel like a baseline relationship is important for building trust and cofidence in the student. Then, I ask the student about the materials they have covered in class recently and I ask them about where they feel they need the most help, their goals, their deadlines/test dates, and their learning style. Once I have this information, the student and I can work together to find the best schedule and plan for them and their personal success. For me, the student is the top priority.

I have worked with younger children ages five and six, high school students, college students, and adult learners.

I would hire someone who is passionate about the subject matter but understands that it is not everyone's strong suit. A tutor should be patient, kind, and adaptive.
