About David

I graduated in 2019 Cum Laude from CSU Maritime Academy where I majored in International Business and Logistics. I currently work here in Richmond in the maritime logistics field. However, I like to supplement my free time to help students regardless of age succeed. As a younger tutor, I am familiar with the ups and downs of digital learning, especially during these unpredictable times. I am most confident in the subjects of : Geography, Intl Business/General Business courses, Logistics, Economics, as well as writing/essay help for individuals papers or SAT/ACT type exams.

As I received private tutoring in high school and at university, I know the difference a knowledgeable and friendly tutor can have on a students test scores, and confidence. Seeing the students I help work through a problem or write that perfect conclusion beings me joy knowing that they are improving both academically and socially, showcasing their confidence to succeed in that crucial exam or upcoming essay.

I got into remote tutoring earlier this year in the start of Covid, and even with my fulltime job it gives me an outlet to help others succeed, which gives me that satisfaction while I am locked away working at home all this time! :)

I have had previous 1-on-1 tutoring both in person (pre-covid) and virtual. I graduated Cum Laude in 2019 from the Cal State University Maritime Academy, just outside of San Francisco, California. I majored in International Business and Logistics; and I currently live and work here in Richmond doing maritme logistics.

About the lesson

Understanding the current subject/topic at hand, what the student is good at, and what the student is struggling with. Try different learning approaches between tutor and student to see which strategy formulates the best outcome to succeed!

Mainly college students who were prepping/cramming for exams; however I am open to a variety of age groups, as well as either 1 time "help needed" appointments, or ongoing sessions as well.

Do your research, don't just hire the first profile you look at! However one thing I may add, I would almost guarantee a private tutor like myself or even another person from this website will most likely be at least 10-15% cheaper than the market rate at an official tutoring center.

I was helping 1 pupil to cram for his macroeconomics final. We crammed 5 sessions into a 2 week period, where we glossed over areas he knew comfortably, while hitting hard the areas he was uncertain about. And he got a 94% on a test that was 40% of his grade! :)

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should have an open dialogue with their teachers, thats what the teacher is there for, to help! If your having trouble with the teaching style or a specific lesson per se, having that dialogue is so crucial, rather than just asking a friend who may or may not know what they are talking about.
