About Marianna

I have been tutoring for approximately 5 years now and truly enjoy it. I have past experiences tutoring students in levels of math up to college calculus (including preparation for advanced placement and regents examinations). I particularly specialize in preparation for the SAT and ACT and have tutoring students from all over the country. My teaching approach is very flexible and catered to the individual that I am working with because I believe that everyone has their own preferences and different learning styles. I try to present information in an engaging and simple way and often in more than one way for a better understanding. If you have any questions/ comments please feel free to reach out. I find tutoring to be a very rewarding experience not just for myself but for my students- especially when I see the "light bulb" go off in someone's head and a concept that has been giving difficulties is finally understood.

I have been tutoring SAT prep for approximately 5 years and myself have scored in the 99th percentile (score report available upon request). Additionally, I tutor a wide range of science, math, history, and writing courses up to the college level.

About the lesson

I always begin by first assessing the level my student's are currently at. I find this step to essential because every student has their individual strengths and weaknesses which I feel are important to be aware of and address. Diagnostic criteria/markers are usually set up during the first session and I set up a short-term and long-term plan before the upcoming session to achieve student goals.
