About Heather

Teaching Chinese: I will teach you how to speak Mandarin Chinese and how to teach yourself, using the way of memorizing lots of facts fast that medical students use across the world to score top scores in very little time. You will not only memorize words, but also learn to THINK in Chinese.

Bible: I have a 4-year degree in religion and am legally qualified to proselyte in countries requiring a preaching license. I took seminary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have a lot of teaching experience through volunteer church service. I will help you understand the vocabulary, grammar, and principles of the Bible, as well as culture, history, and top study help resources.

I love learning Chinese, teaching others about better ways to optimize their learning, and studying the gospel. Therefore I love teaching Chinese, English, language-learning techniques, and the Bible!

I first got started teaching when I was invited to volunteer to teach intermittently at church as a youth. When I was about 14 years old, I got to mentor and teach 6th graders in a college prep class. We had weekly tutoring sessions where I would help a group of students think of what they need to know to answer a question they had, and then find the answers. I also tutored privately for a wonderful young man who appeared to have ADHD and some other difficulties.

Since this time, I have been able to take up a weekly teaching role at church, and currently serve as a substitute teacher at church for little kids in the class called Primary.

Teaching Chinese: I have been self-studying Chinese for a couple years from high-quality sources. I am at an intermediate level, so can teach you all the basics so we can start learning vocabulary!

About the lesson

I like to meet virtually on something like Zoom. I'll get to know you and why you want to learn this awesome subject. Then we'll discuss what methods you want to use to learn it. We develop a schedule for what to teach and when so that we can both come prepared and you know beforehand what you'll be getting out of each session.
