About Carrie

I am a rising senior at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts with a passion for learning, teaching and athletics. I am a Division 1 athlete, political science major and education minor. I am well versed in the subjects of English and History, as well as well prepared to edit any form of college essays or provide ACT preparation. I am open to tutoring all ages and have a wealth of experience tutoring within the Worcester Public School system and working with the organizaton Big Brothers Big Sisters.

I have always had a passion for learning and I am looking forward to beginning my career as a teacher.

As an education student, I have experience in courses such as educational psychology, early years education, adolescent literarcy and multicultural education. As well as a passion for teaching and learning, I have spent a significant amount of time developing lesson plans pertaining to literacy for young students within Worcester Public Schools.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is to spend a session understand their needs and listening to what they would like to gain from this experience. Hearing each students own perspective on what they would like to gain and learn is incredibly important to shaping what the work will look like! Learning about students interests as well is very important for me in order to create work that will be engage for each individual.

I have experience tutoring within a 10th grade classroom, 3rd grade classrom and 5th grade classroom. I have mainly worked with students within an academic setting in Massachusetts public school districts.

Find a teacher that truly cares about fostering a relationship to learn with you! Engagement is incredibly important for the learning process, you do not want to be doing activities that you do not have a vested interest in.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask questions such as, what do I enjoy about learning? What do I believe I struggle with and why pertaining to learning? What would I like to gain from this experience? What are my longer term and short term academic goals? What am I passionate about?

The standard pricing for lessons will be 12 per hour, however I would be happy to negotiate a decrease in price for lessons longer than an hour.
