Dean's list Major 5x

Since I was child I aided my parents in their own teaching of disabled children within the public school, which allowed me to develop a deep passion for all areas of teaching and content. When I was 15 I transferred my skills and passion to teaching students to ride and compete with horses and play and compete in soccer, which I sill do today, 15 years later. In 2014, I began teaching for a public school where i served multiple roles- I was a summer school teacher, and Nurtured third through eighth grade students’ math and reading skills throughout the study utilizing IXL, Study Island, Readwritethink.org, and Write to Learn. I then functioned as a Title I reading teacher. I implemented three-tiered approaches to delivering and processing core content skills and knowledge

I also performed diagnostic testing and assessments in which data was recorded, shared with core teachers, and used to guide instruction. I also co-taught both Science and ELA as a 6th and &7th grade teacher. After that, I moved school districts and became a 5th-8th grade Science Teacher. I taught all four grade levels daily, planning instruction and assessments using the 5E Model, engaging labs, our interactive science notebook and learning goals I created. I wrote and received two grants to enhance student engagement and level of exploration, including a Newtonian Demonstrator, Telescope and a Classroom Pet. I organized speakers to come to the school for Earth Day and Dr. Whiz Bang for a structured presentation on Physical Science and Earth and Space Sciences for all grades in our building. Among many other tasks, I prepared students for Science AIR tests and administered Standardized Tests.

I then switched to a virtual classroom and have been a successfully teaching, engaging lessons, to a wide age range of ELL students with very diverse skills. Throughout all this, i tutored on the side making home visits and scheduling online. I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge to your platform.

I enjoy seeing the students success and happiness in themselves when they do well, feel and see their own improvement as a result of their hard work. I’m very knowledgeable about the expectations of students in all classes and also those of the teachers themselves and enjoy bringing them together. I’ve strived to reach and teach all students I’ve ever taught and feel that my experience and knowledge would truly benefit students in need of tutoring. I enjoy teaching with my heart, not just my mind. I am a truly dedicated, proficient teacher my fields of study and would love the opportunity to meet your student!

Depends on age, focus of the tutoring sessions and parents’ expectations. But usually I establish rapport, which allows interests to be shown, but also an ability to converse, formulate sentences and pose questions to keep conversation flowing. I am able to share at this time my hobbies, interests and create a connection, which allows the student to feel comfortable and at ease to speak up while learning and make connections. These three pieces are tools used to guide instruction, including material, pace, types and formats of questioning and then I implement a three-tiered approach, engagement, eliciting responses and evaluation. Evaluation is when we view strengths and weakness, discuss why they are a strength or weakness, how to build upon them and improve our weakness.

k-12 and young to mid age adults, essentially all ages because i love what i do!

All students are either main stream learners, may have ADHD, autism or behavioral disorders. I ensure i meet the needs of each student in their own way.

Find some you can connect with, feel comfortable with and can easily engage. Learning and tutoring is so much for fun when you enjoy the environment of the teacher, what they create from their home or yours and how they interact with you. Also consider their skills, experience, how they present the material and maybe even watch to ensure they have  good pace, speech and opportunity to apply corrections and suggestions.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It honestly depends of the students background, parents and culture as those greatly influence what they may want to know. Remember that some teachers don't like to share personal information about their family, maybe age, weight etc. But truly, don't over think it. It is human nature to be curious and act questions. However, do your best to be mindful, respectful and try to ask the question within an area that it relates to the content or skill being discussed.
