About Candace

I am certified by the National Tutor Association of America specializing in advanced tutoring and academic coaching. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and my ESL degree from University of California at Santa Barbara in 2001. I specialize in writing, grammar and reading, working mainly with high school, undergraduates and ESL students. I work also with TOEFL test preparation.

As a tutor, I enjoy partnering with people who want to attain their short term and long term academic goals. Identifying those needs to focus on process of learning to attain their goals. As a coach, I focus on improving overall skills for study, preparation and lifelong education skills and habits. I enjoy helping people discover and implement their own strengths and abilities.

About the lesson

In an introductory email or phone call, we can investigate what the short term and long term goals are and determine what obstacles are standing in the way of those goals. It is important to clarify the expectations as to the role of the tutor as well and the tutee; what material is to be covered and the study skills and strategies needed to master the material.
