About Angela

LCB Tutoring by Angela stands out because I use the "Whole Child Approach" to learning. This is not a tutor during the session with no practice or communication until the next session type of company. Every student has unlimited access to practice skills on Google classroom, and they can check in with me with any questions through Voxer or by email throughout the week. Students that I tutor show significant improvement in as little as 8 sessions=1 month. Students walk away remembering what was learned because learning is fun and related to life. I also provide families with updates on their student as well, along with tips on ways to integrate lessons at home, if parents would like to know techniques.

I love watching my students grow in their academics and with life. I integrate life skills and concepts into tutoring sessions to make learning more meaningful and enjoyable for students, which is why I use the "Whole Child Approach" to learning. I have found through my experience that when students understand why they are learning something, it matches their interests, and it's fun-they are highly likely to remember it and want to continue learning more. I love supporting and watching this process happen!

I am a certified teacher. I specialize in Reading and Writing. I also have experience with helping students who have ADHD and execitive function challenges.

About the lesson

Before working with a new student, I like to first meet parents and guardians to discuss the student's needs, strengths, weaknesses, and to hear what the family expects through tutoring. I do this by sending parents a link to schedule a free "no pressure" tutoring consultation with me that is held on Zoom. During the consultation, I also share how I can help by showing tools, resources, and lessons that I offer so families can visually see how progress is measured.

After meeting the parents, we both decide if this would be a good fit and I give families 24-48 hours to think on it because I don't like to pressure anyone and I know it's factors that may need to be considered.

Once we both decide, I set up a free meeting to meet the student as well in a 1 on 1 setting where I get to know the student, determine their learning style, and free testing to see exactly where they are.

I share the results with students and families and begin making lesson plans tailored to areas of need. From there, we schedule our 1st session. I am very consistent and reliable with scheduling sessions in advance with days/times.

I have worked with all types of students in elementary and middle school. Some examples have been students with ADHD, ESL, below and above grade level.

I do have standard pricing for my lessons. My prices are between $40-$45/hour for 60 minute sessions, and $20-$25/hour for 30 minute session. I also tailor prices through monthly packages. I offer 30 minute packages and 60 minute packages.
