About Sharon

I have been teaching high school English for 35 years. I also tutor students for the SAT/ACT (Reading, Writing, and Math). My offices are in Richardson near Central and Arapaho. I tutor online when students are too far away to travel to my office.

My schedule is flexible and includes morning and afternoon sessions, as well as weekend appointments.

I love teaching students who want to learn. It is my great privilege to share the things I know.

High School English teacher of 35 years.

Author of Serrago SAT Testing Materials, in place in hundreds of school across the nation.

About the lesson

When working with students, I look for the areas of weakness and work to strengthen those first. I find that students today are generally deficient in their grammar skills, which is reflected in their writing essays. This is easily fixed. Then we can focus on becoming more sophisticated writers.

Raising scores on the SAT/ACT is a job I take very seriously. Students who come to me are generally wanting higher scores that will get them both admission and scholarship assistance in the top universities.

I have taught everything form grade 2 to AP English (Lit).

I have had students with mild learning problems and those are are extremely gifted. My job is to find out how each student learns, and then to help him on his way to greater things.

I have great success with my students. But it is because they work very hard for me. There is always homework to be done in my classes. When students come to me, they come because they have a deep desire to learn and to achieve.

Last week three of my students reported their SAT scores to me. One got a 1540; his twin brother got a 1520. Another missed only 1 question in the math section, two in the reading/wring section and insisted on taking the test again to try for a perfect score.
