About Vivian

I have always loved learning. Teaching for me is the perfect venue because it allows me to impart valuable knowledge on absorbing young minds. Teaching has given me the privledge of allowing my students to experience their individual abilities. I have taught language arts to grades 5 through 8 for over 40 years. I was often given the most difficult students and have had great success stimulating their intellectual capabilities.

I have a BA in English and Teaching Certification K-12. I also have National Teachers' Examination/Certification for teaching on the Elementary Level. In addition I have my MA in English & Comparative Literature. As I love to learn myself, I have also taken courses in Russian Literature, Special Education, Remedial Reading, Learning Disablities and the Exceptional Child at School.

I am also very proud to say that I was named Teacher of the Year in 2003 in my area

I always wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I believe a proper education is essential. I started teaching as soon as I graduated college. I remain active by helping educate my grandsons and totally enjoy it. Teaching is my passion.

Orientation -- finding out about the child, what he/she likes and doesn't like. Elaborating on the specific needs and goals/desired end result of the tutoring.

All types -- from those who struggle and need remedial help -- to the very exceptional students who have a thirst to learn more

Look for someone who has the passion to help students achieve their full potential. Look for someone has has a wealth of experience, not just out of school. There is no cookie cutter for learning, each individual's plan should be based on an assessment of needs and goals

Using my skills as a teacher to teach a young child -- explaining a vocabulary word that they couldn't grasp. When I was finished the teaching the child the concept, the child came back to me with an example of his own utilizing the word perfectly.
