About Lily
Hi!
My name is Lily.
I have a BS in Environtmental Studies with a Minor in Writing. That's my official credentials, but unofficially I have been writing as a hobby for almost 15 years! Before I attended university I went to pre-college writing programs which really created a strong foundation for my college writing. I'm very passionate about writing both creatively and academically. Confident writing skills can serve you well in your academic years as well as in your career. Perhaps more importantly, writing skills can give you confidence in your ideas and abilities.
If you want a good editor, then you want a passionate one. Writing has been empowering for me and I want to give other students that power.
I just figured if I enjoy helping my friends with their writing so much, I might as well try to make some extra cash and help more people.
As mentioned in my above bio, I think my most important credential is my passion. While I only have a minor in writing, I chose to do so because writing is not only my strongest skill, but my favorite as well.
That being said, my BS in Environmental Studies allowed me to learn new writing skills like science writing and technical writing. The diversity of my writing background gives me the ability to offer more than just "how to follow the rules of writing". I can show you how to brake them and get away with it. (That's what makes a great writer!)

The first thing is to look at a writing sample. We have to start where you are at, not where you need to be. (Don't worry we will get there!) From there, we can establish clearly defined goals and how to reach them. This means you are in charge of your process. You know your strengths and weaknesses better than anyone, you just need the tools to hone your strengths and improve on your weaknesses.

-What do I know I need to improve in writing?
-What do I like about other people's writing? (This can be anything from fiction to scientific studies, genre doesn't matter)

Details
I charge by the hour, with the first appoint being 1hr. From there we can decided how much time you want to spend working on writing, with a cap at 2 1/2hrs.
I can also take one-off appointments if you need revisions for a specific assignment or piece of writing. The rate is the same, but if the piece is particularly long, we may need a longer appointment.
$14-18 / hr sliding scale for low income, trans, POC, first gen college students and students with ADHD or dyslexia.
