About Gilliene

I am an exceptional tutor because I enjoy learning about my students' interests. Not only do I want you to succeed in your English class- whatever subject it may be, but I help students think creatively of what to write and make them excited on the subject matter! If you need help in other areas, definitely let me know!

I enjoy encouraging my students to never give up and always do their best! It is about staying positive and knowing that as long as you work hard, your grade will reflect the effort!

I have taught students in several writing papers from high school when I was in journalism and continued to peer review through my college years. My degree is in Psychology but I have always enjoyed writing papers in school and especially through college.

As a student services advisor, I have helped enroll students in school the past 4 years but also prepped them for college level writing. I have also written papers in APA 7th edition for the past 5 years and have written in Turabian for 1 year for my theology papers.

About the lesson

When working with students, I ask them what subject in their classes are they having difficulty understanding. I address what their main objectives are when writing their papers, make sure to review their papers, and also make sure to guide them through any gramattical errors that I see. I go over research, citations, and make sure students are avoiding plagirism.

The type of students I have worked with are in college but I am open to helping students in high school with MLA format.

My advice to a student when hiring a teacher in the area of my expertise is assess what his/her love of writing. Is the teacher determined to help you understand the material? Is the teacher willing to create new strategies to help you learn how to write better?

A recent event I was fond of was is helping a student understand the resources available in her school library. When she found out how to properly use her resources, she became more confident on starting her first college paper.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves what part of the thesis- main idea of their paper- is difficult to understand and what resources (as a student) you may have not thought about researching yet that may help bring more life to your paper.
