About Samuel

I am a PhD candidate at Cardiff University where I also teach. My research focusus are Literature, History & Creative Writing. I have three degrees in Literature & Medieval History and have taught students across a range of diciplines, and for a range of qualifications, privately for several years.

I have three degrees in Literature & Medieval History and have taught students across a range of diciplines, and for a range of qualifications, privately for several years. Within the UK I have Higher Education accredation, which means I am certified to lecture within university/college settings.

I currently lead seminars at Cardiff University remotely.

About the lesson

In my personal experience, success in learning comes from the setting of clear goals. What the pupil wishes to achieve at the end of their time with me will dictate lesson plan and structure accordingly. For instance, we can focus on pure theory and knowledge for those who simply wish to broaden their general understanding of a particular field. For primary school children with special educational needs we can work on phonics, spelling and maths. Alternatively, for those who are more advanced and have particular goals in mind such as private entrance exams, more emphasis can be placed upon preparation for said exams including learning appropriate essay structure and tailoring answers to exam board requirements. In any case, each session will be broken down with a clear agenda at the start, tutoring to that agenda and then recapping at the end to see whether the information has been appropriately processed.

I believe in education being engaging and enlightening for all, it simply requires the correct spark to be lit. I am patient and passionate about what I teach. I have a firm belief that every pupil is an individual with specific requirements and therefore like to take the time to learn their passions and to use that to encourage learning.

My experiences sun the gamut of age ranges and abilities, from primary school children through to High School and Higher Education/college/university. I can tailor my approach to suit all comprehension levels.

For children/young adults my rates are $25 an hour.

For adult (18 and above) students/university/college students my rates are $35 an hour.
