About Amy
I am a middle school English teacher with a passion for writing. I earned my Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching and I have been teaching for five years. I want to help even more students achieve their writing goals. My biggest reward as a teacher is helping students find their creative voice through all types of writing. I can help students through the entire writing process, from brainstorming to editing.
After college, I got job doing marketing at a large corporation. I quickly realized it was not the path for me. During my time there, I realized that communication is the most important skill a person can have. I wanted to help people learn effective ways to communicate, which is why I went to graduate school to become a teacher. I now spend my days helping middle school students find their voice through all types of writing.
I have been teaching middle school English for five years. I earned a Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching from National-Louis University in 2015. I received a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2010.

Building a genuine, positive relationship is my first priority with students. When I first meet students, I like to find out what makes them unique in and out of the classroom. Then I start conversations to understand what kind of student the child is. Once I have a good idea of the student's interests and learning modalities, I can design resources tailored to the student's needs.
I have worked with hundreds of different students with hundreds of different needs. I currently teach in an inclusive classroom with general education students, students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), students with 504 plans, and English Language Learner (ELL) students.
