About Avalon
I am a freshman at Vanderbilt University double majoring in Economics/History and Human and Organizational Development with a minor in Art History. Throughout high school, I was ranked number one in the nation for Public Forum Debate. Additionally, I tutored a student in essay writing and History and coached my school's junior high debate team. I graduated Cum Laude and was awarded the National Speech and Debate Association Academic All American award, an award given to the top 2% of debaters that excel academically and competitively. In the summer of 2020, I worked as both an instructor and marketing manager for the Public Forum Academy, an online debate camp.
I started teaching and coaching debate at my school because I was the Varsity Captain. The founders of the Public Forum Academy reached out to me because of my experience in debate and coaching. I've also been given multiple offers for private debate coaching from school programs.
I've taught at two debate camps and worked with a total of 50 individual students through those camps. Those camps gave me training how to effectively give lectures on specific public speaking skills and current events such as urbanization in Sub Saharan Africa and the proliferation of blockchain technology in emerging economies. Additionally, I went through harassment training and each camp had a day dedicated to equity and inclusivity discussions.

I first like to see what my student's strengths are. By seeing where they excel, I get a better understanding of how they learn best. Once I know how they learn, I focus my teaching approach to cater to there needs. If a student is a visual learner, I will share my screen and write out concepts. If they're an audial learner, I'll make sure we have in-depth discussion focused on allowing the student to mentally absorb the information being taught.

I charge $35 for each hour of tutoring. For two hours, I charge $60.
