About Beatrice

Hello!

I'm Beatrice! I study Business and Design at Northeastern University. I have been tutoring for over a year students of all different levels; each session was a one on one with the student. When tutoring my students, I focus on developing lesson plans and goals together; these can be academic and specific or more general. I find that the most crucial thing about tutoring is not only the material that is being learned but the student's confidence. I hope to grow my student's skill set and confidence in those skills. I also like to focus on making learning an engaging and fun experience. For me, the elementary and middle school years were not easy, and I found lots of assignments and classes very tedious but eventually began to develop learning and studying strategies that made my classes more enjoyable and made me more successful.

I have developed many different tricks and strategies to both succeed in the classroom but also build up my self-esteem, as a dyslexic student who has gone through elementary, middle, and high school. The traditional classroom can take an enormous toll on any student who doesn't fit a typical learning profile, and for us learning differenced individuals, it makes us feel stupid, invalid, and as if we will never succeed. But I don't think it has to be that way. People with dyslexia have numerous advantages when it comes to learning and creating. I hope to help any student who has felt like the educational system has not supported them properly realize their full potential and incredible superpowers.
