Rick is a gifted teacher. He is an incredibly skilled musician and has the experience to pass that skill on to others. He leverages smart tools in his instruction (sheet music, MP3s, recordings, etc.) and makes them available for students to leverage on their own at home so that they come to the next lesson prepared and ready to develop even further. My son has grown into an advanced drummer under Rick's instruction over the years and looks forward to every single lesson. I recommend Rick highly.

Rick is a great teacher. I'm almost 50 and, a few year back, on a whim I bought a drum set. I had no prior experience and I'm a bit rhythmically challenged. Rick, didn't judge me for my impulsive purchase, instead he taught me everything i needed to know how to play. AND he made it fun!

Rick is an awesome drum teacher. He's patient, persistent, and always positive--about everything from scheduling, to a student's progress, to things that just happen in life.

Rick is such an easy going, nice man. My Son started with him at age 5 and he was so comfortable with Rick from the get go. Rick has a way of teaching that makes it fun! He went out of his way to do all the arranging so his students(my son and many others) could play onstage at Villa Montalvo in Saratoga in front a big live audience during an art show. It was an experience that we would have never had if it wasn’t for Rick caring about his students and going over and beyond for them. He is very relaxed about scheduling and rescheduling which makes it nice for us busy people. The students that get taught by him should consider themselves lucky because he is so talented and knowledgeable.

I love learning from Rick! He is so knowledgeable and experienced as a drummer and as a teacher. He makes everything so attainable, yet challenging enough to keep you going. He is also so personable and encouraging. Highly recommend!

Rick is an incredible drummer. But he is an even better teacher. Including for myself and for our kids, I've known well a total of eleven instrument teachers. Rick is by far, I mean, way way by far, the best music teacher I know. He is a genuinely nice man that loves music and loves people. All that love and passion transfers to the students in an infectious way. And the monthly jam sessions he personally arranges are the best thing ever for a budding musician. You get to go up on the stage in a warm supportive environment, face a friendly audience, and play the song you've been learning with Rick while Rick, his friends and other students play the other instruments and sing. With piano, you're lucky to get a recital every six months to play one or two songs, when you're starting out. When you're Rick's student, you play many songs once a month on front of a friendly audience. He makes it so fun to learn music through playing the drums. It's so amazing that I recommend yours to take drum lessons from Rick even if you want your kid to learn the piano!

My nine-year-old son has been taking drum lessons from Rick for the past two years. Rick is very knowledgeable, patient, and understands how to work with all kinds of kids. My son doesn't like to take instruction from anyone, but with Rick he is engaged and is working hard. He looks forward to the drum lessons and love the Jam Workshop once a month. I would recommend Rick to anyone interested in taking drums.

A great drum instructor. He starts with simple songs and builds up along the way. He’s very supportive and mixed it up including holiday songs too. He plays along using a guitar or drums. Happy to play music all the time.
