About Mauricio

I am a creative and some say "talented" drummer and percussionist that sought out his personal artistic calling from a young age.

I began percussion lessons at around the age of ten years old through concert band in elementary school.

I have since played drum kit with several different musicians, solo artists, music producers, for film and animation scores, etc.

I currently record and perform live in New York City with several contemporary artists.

I love drumming.

If I could play drums, perform live, and record drums everyday - I would! and that is almost a reality.

Drumming is exhilirating, meditative, expressive, and cathartic.

I have been a percussionist and drummer for more than 20 years now.

I have taught several times as a Summer Camp Technology Counselor, University Sound Design Lecturer and University Sound Production Module Teacher.

Drummer and percussionist for more than 22 years.

Concert Percussion training in Elementary School and High School.

Professional performance and recording in adult years with various artists.

About the lesson

I like to talk to and gauge what my student's level of knowledge and experience is.
I begin with basic qualities and structure of sound- what needs to be known - in other words, theory.

Depending on what interests them most to learn, we will begin with first steps.
Stick grip, proper technique, single stroke rolls, rudiments, time keeping, and playing along to music.

A wide range but mainly beginner level College students.
