I took lessons with Rick for almost a decade. I have had many drum teachers in my life, and without a doubt Rick was the best one! He has exceptional patience and is able to break down any rhythm or song in a comprehensible way. Rick tailors his lessons to any style or level you are looking for in a drum lesson. Not to mention, he is just a really great person! I practiced snare drum solos, jazz ensemble sheet music, sight reading, and funky grooves I wanted to learn from my favorite songs with Rick. I would 100% recommend taking lessons with Rick.

I am now in my 30s but took drum lessons as a kid/teenager with Mr. Corwin. I still love to keep in touch and follow his adventures in music and share my own. I am now an electronic music dj and producer, and cary many of his teaching with me throughout my career. I even still have my manuscript book from my lessons, containing beats that he transcribed for me from songs I liked ranging from classic rock to linkin park to hip hop and everything in between. I studied with Rick from around eight years old until around 16 years old. These eight years taught me how to be an awesome drummer and every lesson was super fun. Rick comes up with great practice exercises and is super experienced. He’s someone you want teaching you or your child to play drums and percussion. Highly, HIGHLY recommend.

We met Rick five and half years ago upon recommendation from a local family. He’s been teaching our son weekly since then. He’s flexible and gears the lessons towards our son’s interests. He has helped prepare our son for NYSSMA each year too. During the pandemic, we transitioned to virtual lessons and it works very well too. I highly recommend Rick and have recommended him to others already.
