About Matt

My name is Matt. I have been playing drums for over 12 years and have played with multiple bands that have played shows all around Atlanta. I love sharing my knowledge of the instrument and believe that I can help anyone wanting to learn how to improve their ability on the drum set as well as learning how to write creative drum parts.

I got started when a couple of my friends wanted me to teach them how to get started on the drum set. Since then, I have been on and off with giving private drum lessons in my home.

I have played with multiple bands in the last few years. I have experience playing live shows as well as experience giving private drum lessons in the past. Currently I am studying engineering at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, but my passion is music and I spend much of my free time practicing and writing songs.

About the lesson

First I like to get a feel of where the student is at with their current level of experience. Once I get a feel for the goals of the individual student, I then come up with a structured plan of how to best achieve that goal as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I have worked with peers around my age as well as young kids. Experience level of my students ranges from absolute beginner-intermediate/looking to get into more advanced drumming concepts.

I would definitely try and get to know a bit more about your instructor before committing to anything. It especially helps if your instructor has similar musical taste as the student, as they will be able to help more with specific styles of playing or certain songs the student wants to learn.

I enjoy playing shows with my band the most. Some recent shows I really enjoyed were playing at the Masquerade in Atlanta and the 40 Watt Club in Athens.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should first consider the amount of time they plan on practicing their instrument on their own time. This greatly determines the pace of the lessons as well as how quickly the instructor would move through concepts. Additionally, it is important to work out a schedule that fits for both the student and instructor.

I do not currently have a standardized pricing system for lessons. I believe that I would charge an hourly rate that is fair and negotiable.
