About Steven

My ability to speak well and communicate effectively makes me a great choice for anyone looking to improve their skills. My passion for learning and teaching helps me get along with students and explain things in a way which makes sense.

I love helping students increase in their confidence. To learn one subject is great and all, but to give a student the tools to learn and the principals to be successful--that I can help to set them up for greater results in all of their classes and watch the confidence they have in themselves and in their work increase--is a joy to me.

I was going to school and loved math, saw other people struggling with it and disliking it so I sought out to first help my younger siblings with their math homework and feel in love with the process of explaining concepts and helping others be successful.

I have work experience in management in hiring and training sales representtives in written and oral communications, as well as a history of math tutoring. I studied electrical engineering and physics in university and use my free time to write books and hone my liturature skills.

About the lesson

My process is usually to first understand the way in which the student learns best: whether that be auditory, practically, visually or some combination of them. Then to apply those concepts in tandem to create the best learning encironment for the student.

I work with all kinds of students, mainly homeschoooled and private schooled, but my own experiences with ADHD make me perfect for students who struggle with attention and focus; My own journey through it has given me many insights and tools for success.

Personality and charisma. It matters very little how much the tutor knows, if they are boring and hard to get along with it is much less likely that you will learn anything: so try out tutors and find someone you genuinly like.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
the main question would be: am I willing to accept help? Humility and proper expectations are the two key components to getting the most out of a tutoring experience.

Details

Generally, it will be $30 for anything before highschool, then $35 an hour for highschool subjects and $40 an hour for anything beyond that. in person will increase the rate by $5 an hour for travel costs. so $35 an hour in person for middle school and so on.
