About David
There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not required to write something, whether it be a text, an email, or social media post. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to be able to craft a clear message. There are few things more satisfying than finding the write words for what you are trying to say. I will help you become a better writer by teaching you how to utilize the writing skills you already have while giving you new tools to craft the perfect message for every situation and audience.
Through my decades of writing in professional settings as well as academic papers and fiction, I know the importance of understanding your audience and using your existing tools effectively for each situation.
I have a BA in Philosophy and am a candidate for an MFA in Creative Writing. I currently teach Writing Composition at Western Michigan University.
I really enjoy helping people feel more confident about their writing and experience the joy in communicating effectively, whether it be for work, school, or in creative endeavors.

When working with new students, I will assess their goals and create a custom lesson plan that involves instruction, reading, and writing. I am a strong believer that you learn by doing and my tutoring is very writing heavy. If the student's goal is a specific project, we will work on incrementally creating that piece of writing throughout the sessions so that they leave with something they are confident about by the end of our time together.
