About Cindy

I teach all types of culinary skills but I am known for being an expert on Creole and Cajun Cuisine. I offer classes in Knife Skills, Cooking Basics, Sauces, DIY Catering ( party hosting) Holiday favorites, Vegan Hacks, and of course - New Orleans Cuisine.

I love teaching and making good food with people who share my passion for culinary adventure

I started teaching shortly after the birth of my daughter - I made the choice NOT to work 60 - 70 hours a week as a chef so I could spend more time with my little one! My daughter Eden graduated with honors from University of Louisiana Lafayette last year and often assists me with large classes.

I have over 30 years experience as a culinary professional, having worked for Biba in Sacramento, and Andrea's in New Orleans. I also opened the kitchen at the House Of Blues, NOLA and Kid Shilleens Bucktown- a restaurant which specialized in game! I have been sharing my knowledge of cookery for over 20 years through classes at Delgado Community College, Jefferson Parish Recreation, and Crescent City Cooks. Most recently I hosted Drag Cooking Class at Congo Square Coffee in the French Quarter. I can't wait to share this experience with you!!

About the lesson

I used to teach classes through the Jefferson Parish Recreation Dept and also hold private classes at Congo Square Coffee House in the French Quarter. The Pandemic has left me temporarily without my own venue, but I can teach classes at your location with social distancing and safety measures. So many people have discovered their cooking talents recently, and I would love to help you take that to the next level!

I have taught many many classes for visitors to New Orleans from all over the world- sharing the secrets of Louisiana cooking. I have also devised classes for children and parties( bachelorette or wedding showers) Most of my students are people from all walks of life who want to "up their game" and add some variety to their own repertoire of dishes.
