About Huiying

My aim is to provide a system of play-based learning that can help my students learn Chinese in an easy and relaxing way. Instead of doing all the boring class-works and listening to me speaking the whole time, students will learn most of the knowledge by engaging in different fun activities and games that designed on my own based on my own language learning experience.

I'm a first-year undergrad in Trinity College Dublin and has two whole years of teaching experience. I'm studying Economics & Mathematics for my major. I came from a city called Guangzhou, the south of China. I can speak and write fluently in three different languages: Chinese, Cantonese, and English. I'm willing to learn and challenge everything that is new to me. Currently, I am learning my fourth language, French.

My whole learning system is based on four different essential categories for language learning:

1) Writing

For the beginner, they will learn to write some basic Chinese characters on the grids, which is the study materials that I will provide with, that can help them build the foundation of the next learning stages.

For advanced learners, they will be able to learn some specific Chinese grammar to write a whole sentence based on the Chinese characters they have learned.

2)Speaking

The foundation of Chinese speaking is pinyin, which is my focus on speaking classes. Students will able to recognize the pinyin of each character and obtain accurate pronunciation.

3)Listening

Most students are best learning a new language by listening so this is the priority of the other three categories. In the listening class, students will be in a touch with various learning resources such as Chinese cartoons, dairy conversation videos, and Chinese news, which are both really useful tools to practice their listening skills.

4)Reading

Students will get to learn simple characters in the beginning from the text with pinyin, which is especially for beginners. The next stage of learning is to be able to read the text without pinyin. The learning goal for students is to able to recognize 80% (or above) of Chinese characters in a book, just as the level of a native speaker.

About the lesson

For each of my students, I will design individuals lessons for them based on their needs. In additions, I will decide the intenseness of the lessons based on different student's abilities and understanding.

For absolute beginners and intermediate learners who have a basic understanding of Chinese and want to improve to advanced level, the price will be $18 per hour.

For intermediate learners who want to improve their conversational Mandarin/Cantonese and just want an immerse language learning environment to practice their Chinese, the price will be $15 per hour.
