About Katherine
I have over three years of teaching experience and training in various forms of language testing. I have taught all age groups and levels, from small children to aged professionals. I am a graduated Mandarin Chinese major with advanced level Mandarin. I love helping people stride across language barriers and build self-confidence. My goal is to connect Mandarin and English speakers all over the world to allow for more cooperation and mutual understanding.
I've always loved working with people, and while studying abroad I found that I loved teaching languages. When I came home I became a Mandarin Chinese major at my college and continued teaching language from there.
I have over three years of teaching experience, much of that with one on one language tutoring. I have been trained in Chinese teaching methods, both in my major and within the workplace. I have also been trained in ACTFL language level evaluation. I am familiar with various classroom and testing styles, which makes me perfect to help you prepare for your next big test. I also spent two years abroad studying the language myself, so I've learned what it takes to achieve fluency in a foreign language.

First I get to know the student, their background with the language and expectations. Then I offer my expectations and give them an overview of what we will work on for that day. At the end of the first meeting, I always assign something for students to work on until our next meeting.
I've worked with people ages 3 and up. I've helped business professionals improve their grammar and I've helped beginners get a feel for the language. I've worked with just about any age or language level you may be.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what your long term and short term goals are for the language. If you come to each session with a question or something you want to practice it makes learning so much more fun for both of us!
