About
I have 2 years of experience tutoring middle and high school students in biology and chemistry. I have taken AP Biology and AP chemistry myself and received the highest grade in my class for high school Honors Chemistry. I am currently a biology major at Georgetown University. In tutoring, I have found that not everyone learns in the same way so I believe in coming up with new ways to explain concepts that best fit students individually.
I love explaining things in a way that gives students an 'ah-ha!' moment. I also enjoy getting to know students one-on-one and creating a supportive environment where they feel they can ask any question and receive an answer that satisfies them.
In high school, teachers noticed when students in grades below me were struggling with certain subjects and asked if I would help to tutor them. I did, and I found that it was an enjoyable experience for both of us!
I am a sophomore Biology/Classics double major at Georgetown University with 2 years of experience tutoring middle and high school students.

I usually like to meet with the student before we have our first session to understand their strengths and weaknesses and how they learn best. I also like to do a few icebreakers so that we both feel more comfortable around each other.
I usually tutor students who are struggling in a subject—either because the concept is difficult to grasp, or because the way it is being taught to them is not compatible with how they learn best.
Look for a teacher who understands what you are struggling with and is willing to explain things in different ways other than the 'norm' to help you to understand the material in a way that makes sense to you.
