About Karina
I am currently a graduate student working on my PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering.
I graduated in 2017 with my B.S. in chemistry from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. I then moved to Hattiesburg MS to purse my PhD at the University of Southern Mississippi.
I started tutoring in 2014 with high school algebra and chemistry, and quickly began tutoring college students in general chemisty and chemistry for non majors. I truly have a passion for chemistry, and I love watching the "Ah Ha" moment in a students eyes.
I want to make chemistry and math more accessible to students and make it fun and interesting instead of a burden. I work very hard to make sure that my tutoring style is applicable to the students learning style and interests, and will break down concepts in terms of their degree or interests.
I started tutoring as a sophomore in college with high school students tutoring algebra. I then got more involved in my college and began tutoring students within the chemistry department.
I have a B.S. in chemistry and have been tutoring for 6 years now.

I like to get to know what the student is interested in and ask them about what works well for them when they study. From there, I like to start with where we struggle with the material, and work down to the conceptual aspects. I want students to be solving problems by thinking them through, not by me giving them the answers.
I have worked with all levels of college and high school students with a variety of knowledge backgrounds.
