My typical process for working with a new student is first trying to understand their learning style which could be visual for example. Then I would ask what is the desired grade that the student would like to achieve in order to better understand their goal. I like to give practice problems and give worksheets to do after I have taught the lesson. I also offer taking videos of the lessons if they do not want to chat one-on-one. My main focus is to provide all of the resources I can to help the student succeed.
I would tell them to hire someone that they can be comfortable with.
