About Willow
I am currently taking a gap year before graduate school in order to tutor. I earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Texas this last spring of 2020. I have been a straight A student and passionate about helping my peers. I am able to adapt to another student's preferred teaching method, because I myself absorb material in different ways. I like working with students of any age.
In high school, I took AP Biology. In college, I've taken General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry, among others of course. I feel confident in tutoring science and math, however I am still brushing up on upper-level maths that I had years ago.
I love sharing my techniques to mastering a subject so that the student is truly confident in working through any problem.
I have always been a resource for my peers when they have trouble with a subject. I have been wanting to do more than just helping those around me, so this year I will use my time off from school in order to tutor full-time.
I have a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Texas.

I ask about what their favorite subjects are, what is easiest and hardest for them in order to get an idea of how their brain is wired. Then I ask for them to bring some of their homework to a session. I like to see them work through a problem first so that I can identify their style of approach and issues they might have upfront.
I think not every teacher is a good fit for every student, although with time a teacher can begin to recognize how they need to change their instruction to best help a student. As with any relationship, communication is key. I would advise a student to find an expert in the subject they need help with and to look for signs that the teacher just isn't a good fit. Rotating through different tutors can both help a student understand what they need from their teacher and even gain different perspectives of the subject which will strengthen their grip around it overall.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What process am I stuggling with?
What is missing from my understanding of the subject?
Do I learn best in a certain way?
