About Alexandria
Hi! I'm a junior at Villanova University studying biolgoy and astrophysics. I have a lot of experience working with kids from the elementary school level to peer tutoring college students. I have been a STEM and writing tutor for 6 years. I'm good with everything in math and science, as well as editing essays. SAT/ACT/ standardized test prep as well.
I love teaching as much as I love science. I am passionate about understanding the world and sharing all of the beauty in it with everyone I meet.

I began peer tutoring in highschool after school with students struggling in math and science classes. I found that I loved teaching, and set up an after school program for anyone who wanted to be in a space doing work together. I began volunteering in elementary schools and as a CCD teacher. When I came to college, it felt natural to continue tutoring in the tutoring center.
I am a third year student at Villanova University, studying biology and astrophysics. I took many AP classes in highschool, and have since taken many high level math, physics, chemsity, biology, and environmental classes. I am a peer tutor at the Learner's Studio Villanova, as well as a private Student Athlete Tutor. I have experience working in the Writing Center. I also am a 6 year volunteer in local elementary schools where I have helped kids ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade with all classwork.

Every student has a different learning style, and I believe that working with each person's style instead of trying to morph them into the generic one is the best way to begin. I like to ask the student about what they like, how they like to learn, how they struggle and what they might be struggling with, and why they want to do better. We can start by going over things together, and figuring out how I can best suit the student's learning style and how we can translate it into the work they're doing.
I have worked with a broad range of students - ranging from learning to count and writing letters in first grade classrooms, to introductory biology in sixth grade, to college level physics, chemistry, and biology. I have worked with junior highschoolers with SAT prep, and have worked with students in the writing process for creative, persuasive, scientific, and literary essays.
I have also worked with special needs students, including autistic, dyslexic, and dyscalculia.
It's okay to feel completely overwhelmed by what you're learning - every person who first learned what you're learning had no idea how to comprehend it. There is no wrong way to think about things, and getting tutored is just a way to help you think about a problem. Don't be scared to be wrong it's the best way to learn! I'm here to work with you and figure out how your mind thinks.
I have been skiing my entire life, and this past month I decided that I wanted to learn how to snowboard. I drove out to a mountain, rented a board, watched some videos, and took myself to the bunny slope. I will not say that what I did was snowboard - but I did roll down the side of a mountain for 8 hours and I loved every minute of it. I had to learn how to get myself up, how the little movements of my body will affect everything that I do, and to forget everything that I thought I knew from skiing. Even though I had bruises for the next 2 weeks, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I was outside learning something I had never tried before, tumbling and falling and spinning myself on the the ground to get up and do it again. Maybe I'll be in the next Olympics.

I was very confused with my physics classes, and Ali helped me with all of my homework questions and talked through all of my schoolwork. She was very patient and explained things way better than I understood before. Funny and so sweet made me feel better about how frustrated I was.

I have an hourly rate of $40 an hour, which may be increased if standardized testing is involved and more preparation for the sessions is needed. I am also more than willing to work with any student on pricing - I never want someone to have to struggle because of funds.
