About Elizabeth
I am passionate about science and science education and love helping students realize how fun science learning can be. I excell at learner-centered teaching approached to help students advance rapidly and own their learning for a lifetime.
Students will recieve exceptional tutoring by an experienced professor and K12 educator who has taught courses in AP Bio, Introductory level Biology and Ecology as well as advanced courses in Botany, Urban Ecology, Evolution, Mycology and Botany. Research background includes population and community ecology, plant-microbial interactions in response to climate change.

I started teaching at a normal function of being a graduate student and found I loved it. That led me to apply for and accept a teaching Fellowship with the National Science Foundation.
I have taught at a private school in Baltimore (last year) and have tutored for several years. In addition, I have taught at the college level for Arizona State Unversity, at Cornell and at the University of Indiana, Bloomington.

First I like to have an introductory 30 min interview to learn about what they're studying, their previous experiences, and their goals as a student. Based on this interview I create a goals-plan to help them achieve their goals in the class/topic we will be working together on. Using this, the student and I will set up a schedule. That schedule may increase or reduce in frequency based on how the course proceeds. I'm here to not only help them master the subject but also increase their confidence.
High school students and college undergraduates from a variety of backgrounds. Public and private schools as well as returning adult students.
Make sure they can explain the science in way that makes sense to you. If the teacher can tell you a story about science that fits with your experience, you'll better be able to understand and retain that information.
I recently helped a couple of my high school students present their environmental designs to a local Environmental task force.
