About Tommie
I fell in love with American Sign Language (ASL) my freshman year of high school. I continued to take ASL all four years, even implementing the new ASL 4 class and petitioning for ASL 3 and 4 to be honors level which was successful. I tutored elementary students at a deaf and hard of hearing school my junior and senior year. I am continuing my education at Utah State University as a Deaf Elementary Education major minoring in Child Psychology. I love to make learning a new language fun as it should be especially as ASL introduces you to a new culture and community!
I love Deaf culture, their community, and the people! Asl is such an amazing bridge to fill the gap between the hearing and deaf community! Asl is also such an expressive language that is unique from all others!
I am a Deaf Elementary Education major and found my love for teaching as I tutored at a deaf and hard of hearing school.
I took ASL 1 - 4 in high school. Continuing into my current education at Utah State University. Deaf Elementary Education Major.

I always introduce myself so the student can feel more comfortable around me. I believe that the student should direct the lessons with the questions and concerns about the topic that they have. I encourage them to ask any questions they may have and I directly answer with explanations, examples, and practice.
Deaf & Hearing. All ages from 7 - 20.
I would look for a teacher who has a view horizon of experience. Also, someone who not only knows that language, but also the grammatical and cultural side of American Sign Language.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Come up with a list of things you want to accomplish in the subject. Then narrow that list down to top 3. Then we will work as a team to get those first 3 done and eventually the whole list!
