About Richard

We stand out by crafting a lesson plan based on the needs of those learning and the goals desired by the student. By teaching the foundation of performance through study and application, students are able to work on themselves to refine what is taught while working together during our lessons. In addition, by creating attainable goals, tangible achievements, and understandable practices, we are able to provide a curriculum that is built on theatrical foundations and designed for the students specific needs.

Our service is great because every student who is learning already enters class as a great themselves. The journey to honing the skills necessary to excel in drama is an exercise into learning aspects that pertain to history, sociology, art, science, and business. I enjoy this work because this is working on ourselves as people as much as it is working on an artform in humanity.

I have been an educator in one form or fashion for decades. I originally was an educator for a martial arts studio in which I obtained my 2nd degree blackbelt and workd with students as young as 3 to as young as 70. In addition, I have been a youth care provider for children with special needs and behavioral particulars from 6-18. I have taught in both private high school settings and alternative high school environments. In addition, I have taught in facilities with both children and adults who require non-traditional learning methods. I am a teacher and I love learning from those I teach.

I have studied in the Bennet Conservatory where I practice Stanislovskian technique as well as Shakespearian form. I was selected and studied under the Arizona Theater Company cohort where I learned about the entire large-scale stage production process. And I have learned on set in all aspects of film and stage in low-budget films (under $100k), community theater, as well as taught as a Drama Instructor for both children and differently abled adults at 'Arts for All'.

About the lesson

The typical process is learning what a new student wants to learn and why; devising a lesson plan catered to those needs in a easy to understand, yet comprehensive, methodology; providing insight, guidance, application and answers to continued education. All this is done through study, movement, and exercising technique.

As indicated in the previous question, I have worked with every type of student there is, but I recognize that every student is unique and their own person, so the only type of person I have not worked with yet is you.

A student of mine went to a local film screening and saw a short film I was in and texted me a pic of me on the big screen. The next time we met, we were able to adapt their curriculum to focus on learning through real-world experience on set and on stage. I am seeing them grow into this industry already.
