About Brian

I've worn many hats in the film industry, and have worked on both large and small scale productions. I not only want to teach others how to act, but also want to share my knowledge and experience of navigating the industry. I started acting in 2010 and have landed principal roles in over 20 stage & film productions. My aim is to coach new/intermediate actors in the art of acting and auditioning, while also mentoring them in the art of navigating the Texas market. My qualifications include, but are not limited to: being a principal actor in an award winning film on hulu, being a lead actor in two other films which recieved honorable mentions, award winning actor, casting director for Mind Gear Films in Austin, have reached master level classes under two different instructors, and even worked as a camera operator.

I enjoy the people I meet, connections I make, and the experiences I walk away with.

I started teaching in 2014, which was a fantastic experience. I taught in San Antonio and Houston.

I've been trained under four instructors in San Antonio, and one in Houston. I've reached a level of mastery under two instructors. I was a teacher for a very prominent company which enabled me to teach acting to kids from age 7 to 18.

About the lesson

My typical process when working with a new student is to first conduct an assessment. This includes improv, blocking, monologues, cold reads, and auditioning ability. These things combined allow me to create a customized plan for those I mean to coach. It also lets me see what they have a natural affinity for.

I've worked with beginner and intermediate level students in the past; however, most of my experience has been with beginners.

When seeking a teacher in your area, ask a few basic questions: do they have verifiable experience, can they provide references, are they currently a working actor, when was their last production, how long have they been acting, how much training do they have, etc.. Stay away from craigslist please!

I just recently landed the lead role in a production called "Deathmask". This production was pitched to multiple networks in Miami FL. Long story short, the studio that produced Deathmask is currently in talks with Netflix. Nothing is set in stone, but I'm optimistic.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you want to accomplish in acting, what are your goals? Don't be afraid to dream big. What kind of productions interest you? What are some aspects of the film process/industry that confuse you? Ask your potential teacher about their experiences as well. Ask to see a sample of their most recent work, or perhaps something older they've been in.
