About Aaron

Aaron Ragland received his B.A. in Theatre with an acting concentration from Elmhurst College in 2012. At Elmhurst College, his love for the stage and acting grew as he was in productions such as Sweeney Todd, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Abraham Lincoln, The Birtday Party, Tracers, and more. Since then, he's been acting professionally for 16 years mainly onstage with some on camera experience around the Chicago area.

His stage credits include Arabian Nights(Intern Showcase) at Oak Park Festival Theatre, If Scrooge Was a Brutha at ETA Creative Arts Foundation, The Marveleous Marvelettes All Male(US) at Black Ensemble Theatre, The Brig at Mary Archie Theatre, and more. His most notable role for TV was on NBC's Chicago Fire "Regarding This Wedding Episode" and he was also in an episode of the Desperate TV Series which is on Amazon Prime.

With all of his experience, he's showed great versatility and passion for transforming and stepping into multiple characters' shoes. And now, he's very proud to be sharing his knowledge and offering virtual lessons for actors just starting out who want to know the basics of either TV/Film or Theatre acting.

I enjoy acting because I think it's really cool to understand and become another person. The way the human mind works and a personality is formed is so unique and fascinating. To begin to become somebody else, you must know what that character wants along with the circumstances that surrounds them.

Aaron received his B.A. in Theatre from Elmhurst College in 2012. At Elmhurst, he took numerous courses such as a Gen Ed Acting class, Acting Technique 1, Acting Technique 2, Voice & Movement for the Stage, Private Acting Lessons, Voice(singing), Improv, and a little Directing. In 2015, he took up On-Camera Training Level 1 & 2 at the Green Room Studio in Chicago. In 2016, Aaron chose to get back into a little Theatre training by taking Adam Belcuore's(Goodman Casting Director) Auditioning for Theatre class at Acting Studio Chicago.

About the lesson

Aaron starts out by asking the student if their interests are in TV/Film or Theatre acting. From there, he caters the lessons towards the specific discipline. Besides that, Aaron think it's important to go over the general process of what an actor does from day to day. First, he may start out with a vocal and body warm up (especially for Theatre actors). Second, there may be a little bit of history given regarding the origin of acting and or technique. Thirdly, there will be monologue selection and performance of the monologue from the student. After monologue mastery is complete, he'll move on to scene work.

I offer virtual trial lessons at $5 for 15min and regular virtual lessons at $10 for 30min and $20 for 60min lessons.
