About Johnny

I encourage actors to use their natural instincts as well as some teach technique through a process of character development & scene breakdowns. This process teaches the actor how to take clear action, understand a scene, create a character, and most importantly build confidence. When gained, the actor allows room for creativity and the transformation into different characters. .

I encourage each actor to be fearless and be the very best within themselves. I believe in creating a warm and inviting approach through positivity & fun in order to get the best results.

I enjoy being able to tap into the actors creativity and imagination. We get to play different characters and show different emotions that we sometimes are afraid to show in real life. Acting gives us the opportunity to explore those things. I get a pure sense a joy when working with and actor that never believes they could ever show certain emotions or characteristics and then do. It's a great feeling.

I have 13 years acting experience as well as 13 years of youth development/teaching experience. I have worked along side some of the prominent youth art organizations in Williamsburg Brooklyn both as drama instructor and program coordinator at El Puente in Williamsburg BKLYN and Williamsburg’s CAMP. The kids ranged from ages 4-19 I use my unique experience in both as an actor and youth developer to create a fun professional atmosphere.

I studied at Purchase College (SUNY) Soon after I started getting guidence by some of the top latino playwrites/directors in NYC.

About the lesson

Hi. A typical process for me would first start with getting to know the actor. Once a personal connection is made, trust and comfort soons follow. Once an actor is comfortable, it allows them to be more confident with choices. Actors will learn be encouraged to use their natural instincts as well as some technique through a process of character development, emotional connection, monologue study & scene breakdowns. This process will teach each actor how to take clear action, understand a scene, create a character, and most importantly build confidence. When gained, the actor allows room for creativity and the transformation into different characters.

Ive worked with students raging from 4 yrs old to 21. Students that have taken some sort of acting classes or some that have never.

Today, many schools are spending a great deal of time preparing students to take standardized tests, and the arts are being squeezed out of the curriculum. That’s unfortunate because it’s very hard for kids (and adults) to be productive when they do only one type of activity all day long. The arts not only give kids a creative, expressive break in their school day, but also provide a multi-sensory approach to learning, incorporating three major learning styles: visual, auditory, and physical. Most children learn best through one of these three different styles.

I would say look into someone that you are comfortable with. Someone who can both instill professionalism while also remembering the fun about what you are doing. As an actor, you are using your imagination. Something that "real life" can try to take away from us. Remembering that our imaginations are vivid and can create beautiful things like an acting career is someone that should be cherished. :)

I recently have visited several inner city schools to speak with students about my experience as an actor and educator. This brings me to most joy.
