About Cole

I I teach beginner and intermediate students.

I give the basics, and also give students the chance to play songs right from the start. Half of my students practice time is spent on scales, chords and music theory, the other half is playing a song they want to learn, or a song I pick something that's simple enough to learn from the start.

You can hear some of my playing on my site, but I am currently in the studio recording some new material.

***MY FIRST LESSON IS HALF OFF!!!

$30 for hr, $50 per hour

(10 one hr lessons is $400/$100 savings)

I only give 1/2 hr lessons to beginners, other wise I would be playing for an hr. 10 1/2 hr lessons is $250

(you'd save $50, by booking 10 1/2 hr lessons)

I suggest 2 lessons a week, but 1 is fine.

You have to practice!!!

I can tell how much my students practice, and if they dont, I drop them. I'm looking to teach 1st, make money 2nd.

I'm an actor as well....so its kid of like directing someone.
It's great to see someone that transforms from someone that cannot act at all, or play an instument that well, and with a little guidance, BAM!...They've hot something!!!
Maybe because my father was a cllege professor & music teacher, it's in my blood.
I can get quick results, if the student follows the material I ge=ive them, and works hard, period.

None, I learned from guitar tabs, a few lessons, and you tube vids.

About the lesson

Each student is different.
I started playing the guitar when I was 23, Im 49.
I dont teach how to read music, or classical guitar, I teach rock & metal guitar, and a little bass, and keys.
I can also teach some very basic drumming.

If you practice a 1/2 a day, as opposed to 2 hrs a day, there's going to be a difference, but only if you practice the correct way for a 1/2 hr. If you practice the wrong way for 2 hrs, the student that practices the right way, with less time is not only going to be better, they will get better, as opposed to a student that is solely hell bent for speed, or blinding solo's, will build in mistakes that they cannot get out of their playing, and will NEVER be able to play anything complex

I dont have any students that I can give you a review, as the people I taught what I know for free, or I just lost touch with them.
Its been 12 years since I seriously taught anyone, and I miss it, plus I know it will force me to up my game with all of the new material I will have to learn to keep up with my students demands.

Complete beginner, people that can barely play, and people that can play a fwe songs, but cannot solo.

Try teachers.....you're not handcuffed to any one teacher.
Find someone you like, and you like the way they play.

Once it feels forced, that you're under pressure to perfrom well for your teacher, you're in the wrong situation.

You should not be able to wait for your lesson(s) each week!!!

Seeing Malmsteen at Irving Plaza.
The guy is unreal, although I wish I had seen him in the 80's.
I saw Vinnie Moore, not that long ago, and he's playing in Brooklyn in Dec, def going to that.....I saw him open up for Journey in Philly at The Spectrum in 1990.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Identify, if you want to play just for fun, be a pro, or somewhere in betwween.

Just dont waste your time, if you'd rather be playing baseball or skatebaording.

Playing the guitar is like anything else in life,
Somethings come easy, you're born with, others have to work a little but, then their are others that have to bust their ass to make it happen.
For me, it wasnt easy, I almost quit, and would only play once a month, until I realized I wanted it, so I practiced 3-4 hours a day.

$40 per hr (if you're hurting and you take it seriously, I can lower my rate)
$20 per 1.2 hr
***I only give 1/2 hr lessons to beginners....once they can play well enough, we can shift to a full hour lesson
I prefer beginners, because sometimes its tough when you teach someone that has mistakes in their playing, so you have to kinda start from sratch.
My main thing is practice....I can tell how much you practice after a lesson or two, and if you dont practice, I cant teach you anything new, so the lesson will be over (I still get paid) and I'll see you next week.....if you dont paractice for the next lesson, you need to find another teacher, which I recommend every student has 2 teachers, a classical one, and a popular/ rock, or whatever music ou want to play.
