About Anthony

Hello everyone! My name is Tony Luisi, and I can't wait to be your tutor!

My love for education started in 2013 when I started as a tour guide at Sterling Hill Mining Museum. I gave tours to all age groups, and I especially loved giving tours to the school groups that would come in. I got the chance to educate elementary and middle school children all about the history and science behind the last active mine in New Jersey. I was also a substitute teacher a few years back. I stood in for a 5th grade Math and Social Studies teacher, and did everything I could to help all of the students achieve academic excellence.

I can only imagine the strain that the pandemic has put on students of any age. I am aware that virtual learning has been a curveball that educators and students alike may have had trouble adjusting to. I will not give up on my students, and will work with them for as long as they need to get back on track.

I am a well-rounded and well-traveled individual, and can achieve the best results with elementary and middle school students who need a little extra help. I will go above and beyond for my students. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from William Paterson University and an Associate's degree in Dramatic Arts from Sussex County Community College. During that time, I filled in for a 5th grade Math and Social Studies teacher for 6 weeks. I created lesson plans, quizzes, tests, and projects, and assigned and graded homework.

About the lesson

My process is first having the student explain what difficulties they are facing in the classes they are having trouble with. Once I have an understanding of what the student is having trouble with, I can ask a few questions on the subject matter. Finally, I can create a unique and targeted learning plan based on the subject matter.

As a substitute teacher, I worked with students from 3rd to 8th grade.

What is confusing me the most? Do I understand most, some, parts, or none of the material? Do I need homework help or preparation for a quiz or test?

The standard pricing for my lessons are $10/hour for the first three (3) hours and $15/hour for each additional hour.
