About Doug

Acting is not a one size fits all endeavor. Different artists respond to different stimuli. I customize my teaching to each individual student because each student is an individual.

I began by assisting my mentor in theatrical classes and a good friend who was teaching commercial classes.

I have been a working actor and I have worked in the casting business for 30 years. My mentor and teacher was a man named Cliff Osmond. I studied with Cliff for 15 years. I have been teaching for 25 years.

About the lesson

Evaluation. Who is the student? What is their background? How much education have they had? What do they want to focus on?

I have worked with students of every age and experience level both theatrically and commercially. I have also taught American acting to Japanese students in Tokyo.

Look for someone who speaks to you, not at you. Look for an acting teacher that you can relate to and relates to you and your unique circumstances.

Recently an enthusiastic student of mine called me because she was so excited to have landed a role in a major film.

What are my goals, what do I hope to learn? Is this going to be my career? If so am I willing to devote myself fully to it?
