About Samuel

The lesson comprises relaxation and sensory exercises as well text analysis and improvisation. We will start with the basics and work our way to more advanced exercises that will enable you to be truthful. It's not about acting but revealing real behavior.

I had studied privately throughout the 80's and 90's beginning at HB Studio with Bill Hickey and Edward Morhouse. Throughout the 90's I studied with Ernie Martin, Elizabeth Stearns and Elaine Aitkins who were all mentored by Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio. Finally I worked with Alan Gordon who is an advocate of the Sandford Meisner technique throughout 2018. Along with my training I have extensive experience working in various productions in New York.

About the lesson

We start with relaxation and sense memory exercises. Then we move on to the Meisner repetition exercise. Lastly we focus on taking it off the page which combines the aforementioned techniques. The goal is to empower you as a performance artist. Homework assignments are given which are practiced throughout the week. The work is progressive which builds upon the previous lesson and each session is 90 minutes long.

Details

The sessions are one hour long with homework assignments to be done during the week. The fee is $50 per hour.
