I have had the pleasure of working with Lauren as an actor in her productions on two occasions now: once during a summer at Williamstown Theater Festival and then again as part of Ars Nova’s annual ANT Fest right after I graduated from NYU’s Graduate Acting Program. Lauren has a keen eye for helping to bring an actor’s full self to the work of embodying a character. She is able to speak to the specificity and sense of detail that the process of building a character requires as well as effectively communicate how the character fits into the larger story being told. To put it simply: she is an actor‘s director. She sees the big picture but she also cherishes and admires the intimate, personal work that actors do and is thus a dream collaborator.
