About Actor

At the Actor Training Studio, we recognize that you've got a unique contribution to make through acting. So ATS provides a supportive, yet challenging environment where you'll explore the boundaries of your potential.

What I enjoy the most is being given the opportunity to help people develop -- whether they're just starting out or have been acting for years. Teaching is something that I have to do -- it's in my bones. I've been teaching since 1994 and started ATS in 1998. It's my dream job.

I started by directing -- I often had to train an actor up to make a play or movie the best we could. Then I had the opportunity to teach at a college for a short time before opening my studio.

I have 40 years experience as an actor and opened the Actor Training Studio in 1998. I continue to do my own acting work, but teaching now comes first.

About the lesson

I first do an intake consult -- I find out what their dreams for acting are and what their goals for training are. Once we schedule their class or lesson, I'll give them an assignment. At that point I can see how serious they are based on their preparation for their first assignment. And then we dig into the work!

All types -- brand new actors in their teens and 20's, kids, professional actors of both stage and screen as well as people in middle age that are coming back to acting or trying it for the first time.

Interview the teacher. See if you can sit in on a class. Make sure you feel a trust and comfort level with the teacher. Be ready to pay for your training -- you don't want to train with someone that can't make a living as a coach.

I just got word from a student in his 40's who was traveling long distance to do a shoot. The company is covering his expenses as well as paying him well. I think that's awesome.

Details

Generally, the base rate for classes is $195/4 weeks. Private lessons are $210 for 4 one-hour sessions (to be completed within 4 weeks)

I do have some summer discounts happening and usually offer discounts in December. I also give free classes when a student refers ATS to an interested prospective actor.
