About Jo

(concealed information)

I’m a textile and surface designer with over 20 years of professional experience across fashion, interiors and commercial textiles. I’ve worked with designers, architects and clients to develop original designs from initial concepts through to finished products.

I offer individual support to students studying textile design and fashion, drawing on my industry experience to help them develop their ideas, strengthen their design skills and build portfolios. I can assist with print and pattern design, color, research, drawing, design development and presentation, as well as sewing skills and practical project work.

Whether you're working on a university or TAFE assignment, preparing a portfolio for further study, or exploring textile design for the first time, I can offer practical guidance, constructive feedback and insight into the professional design process.

My lessons are practical, collaborative and tailored to your individual goals. We can work on your current assignment or portfolio, develop a new design concept, explore colour and pattern, or build your confidence with drawing, textile techniques and sewing.

I guide students through the design process, from research and initial ideas to experimentation, refinement and final presentation. Drawing on my professional experience, I can also share industry insights and offer career guidance for students considering further study or work in design.

Each lesson is shaped around your experience, interests and priorities, with a focus on developing practical skills, creative problem-solving and confidence in your own ideas. Lessons are generally one to two hours and are suitable for beginners through to intermediate students, including older high school students and adults studying or exploring textile and fashion design.
