About Alex

I know it's scary to ask for help. We don't want to feel like a failure or a burden. But remember that it's when you ask for help that you realize how much you know. I decided to become a teaching assistant for multiple science classes at my university because I wanted to be someone students could come to for help. I know that school work and difficult course loads are scary to navigate, and I'm here to relate with you. Over the past 6 years, I've learned effective ways for studying, and learned how to help students succeed in classes they never thought they would even pass. On a more personal level, I love anything outdoors, especially in the desert. I am a canyoneering guide who ventures through slot canyons and ski down mountains in the winter. I also enjoy cooking, connecting with friends, and perfecting my mixology skills. I also really love teaching, because nothing compares to the satisfaction of helping someone overcome a challenge that seems overwhelming and daunting.

About the lesson

My main goal is to help you feel confident in your abilities as a student. Too many times we tell ourselves that we can't learn something new or that things are too difficult. This is simply not true. I'm here to help you see that you can learn something new and excel at it with good learning strategies.

I offer help with biological and chemical life sciences, specifically focusing on chemistry and biochemistry, but offering advanced help in anatomy, physiology, and cellular biology. We can work through challenging topics and improve study strategies to help you become masters in these subjects and ensure you feel confident in your ability to do well in your classes.

Perfect! Alex is THE best!
He's helped me over the course of this semester with organic chemistry. He is so knowledgeable, personable, and kind. He never once made me feel dumb (which was my biggest fear/hesitancy with tutoring). He is very organized, which helps you to sort out concepts visually. He provides many practice opportunities, which is super helpful. Alex is your guy if you need help with chemistry (or any science topics in general). I can't recommend him enough!

I started tutoring lessons with Alex for General Chemistry 2 because I've always struggled with chemistry. This is my second time taking it after withdrawing the first time and he has helped me understand concepts so much faster and easier than my prior attempt of taking this class alone. He makes sure to make every lesson as helpful and productive as possible, and is proactive with his students. I plan to continue lessons with him for future chemistry classes because that is how much the weekly lessons have helped me!

I work at the University of Utah hospital, and live very close to campus. I am more than happy to meet on campus and reserve a room/study space for our tutoring session. I am also able to host zoom sessions if you feel more comfortable to meet using this platform.

I accept Cash, Venmo, or Apple Pay for payments. I usually offer discounted rates for packages to help you save on individual tutoring sessions.

5 hrs: $175
10 hrs: $350
20 hrs: $560 (20% off)
30 hrs: $790 (25% off)

Note: After purchasing a package deal and you have successfully completed 4 lessons, I do not offer a refund for cancellation/discontinuation of lessons due to a desire to discontinue. I will refund any lesson that I fail to meet the requirement of providing scheduled tutoring sessions.
