About Lauren
My key intention is to use science capital as motivation and teach you the skills to be able to understand what you have learnt to date.
As a classroom teacher, I teach a number of subjects all through secondary and sixth form. It's very important to me that my students want to be in my class, so I work hard to ensure that whilst my students have to be in school, they want to be in my lessons. I have a proven track record with students who have ADHD; whilst I have a plan if needed, I'd much rather let the student take the lead in finding things out and I create a safe space for learning, where we can embrace mistakes and label them as part of a growth mindset.
In my opinion, the sciences are the most relevant subjects you learn about in school, and scientific literacy is essential in everything we do.

An experienced teacher of almost 30 years, I am passionate about all of the subjects that I teach and I have a reputation for teaching complex concepts in a relatable and engaging way.
Learning can be an amazing journey of discovery if we have the skills to think both critically and analytically. There is a wealth of information at our fingertips, and it can be tricky to navigate at times with so much misinformation online. My intention is to teach my students to ask the right questions and give them ownership of the route we take to reach a sound understanding of the curriculum, and the confidence to achieve.
In Science, we first do a deep-dive into the fundamental concepts of particle theory and energy and demonstrate our understanding of the theory, laws and principles that are required by the syllabus.
In Psychology I use popular culture and global events which feature heavily in the news to bring the theory right up to date, using recent events as a platform for looking back at how the initial research applies today.
