About Paul

I studied for my BA in the UK. I have been teaching Spanish and English online and in high schools for four years and love it. I really enjoy getting to know other cultures while also sharing my own culture if you are interested.

About the lesson

I am patient and encouraging, I do not mind repeating or doing extensive practice until a topic is understood. Also, I am easy going and love to have a friendly conversation.

My classes adapt to your level and goals, we can use a wide variety of material such as videos, images, grammar exercises, listening exercises, roleplays, vocabulary cards, or games. It all depends on your preferences.

Miguel de Cervantes is an icon of the Spanish Language because he is regarded as one of its most important writers.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?
I think Spanish culture is generally friendly and optimistic. I really like that.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
It helps me connect with my origin and if more people in the US are able to speak Spanish it can greatly help Latin American migrants to become easier integrated in the US.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
One of the main difficulties for many English speakers is pronunciation, a good tip to remember is that Spanish is a phonetic language which means it is pronounced as it is written, so every single letter is always pronounced.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
I had one teacher who always taught me using funny stories from his personal life and then encouraged me to also tell him my stories, I feel that helped me a lot to improve my listening and speaking.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Travelling to countries in Latin America has helped me to take note of the different accents and words used in different regions.
