About Michael
I’m Dr Michael Batashvili, a researcher and lecturer in psychology, where my work focuses on maths anxiety, cognition and brain activity (EEG). I’ve been teaching research methods and statistics for about 13 years, and have more than 10 years’ experience tutoring students online from different countries and time zones.
My teaching specialises in helping psychology, communications and law students feel at home with statistics and quantitative research. I regularly teach courses in cognitive and biological psychology, research methods and statistics, so I understand very well where students typically get stuck and how to explain concepts in a clear, intuitive way.
I’ve also published peer‑reviewed research on mathematics anxiety and cognition, which helps me support students who feel anxious or blocked when facing numbers or statistical software.
I genuinely enjoy teaching and see tutoring as a collaboration rather than a one‑way lecture. In our work together I aim to build both understanding and confidence, so that you can read, run and write up statistical analyses independently—whether you are preparing for an exam, working on assignments, or completing your BA/MA/PhD thesis.

I help university students around the world understand statistics, not just “get through” the course. My focus is on psychology and social sciences, but I also work with students from communications, law and other fields.
Our lessons can involve:
• Clarifying your research question and choose the right analyses (t‑tests, ANOVA, regression, mixed models, etc.).
• Work step‑by‑step in SPSS or JASP on your own datasets or class assignments.
• Interpret the output together so you really understand what the numbers mean.
• Practise writing results in clear academic English (APA style when relevant).
I adapt each lesson to your level: we can start from the absolute basics of statistics and research methods or go into more advanced topics (e.g. power analysis, etc.).
I teach online via Zoom/Meet with screen sharing, and I’m used to working across time zones with students in Europe, North America and beyond.
