About Laura

I am a science professional with a First Class Honors degree in Bioanalytical Science and a Master’s degree in Analytical Science. I currently work as a Technical Officer within a third-level Life & Physical Sciences department, where I prepare and support undergraduate practical classes and provide day-to-day assistance to students, including those completing final-year research projects.
Before my current role, I worked as a Research Scientist in R&D at Randox Laboratories, where I gained extensive practical experience in biological and analytical sciences, including molecular biology, laboratory techniques, research and scientific problem-solving.
I really enjoy working with students and explaining scientific concepts in a clear and practical way. I understand that Biology and Science can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when there is a large amount of information to learn. My approach is to break topics down, identify areas a student is struggling with and build their understanding and confidence from there.
I can provide support in Junior Cycle Science, Leaving Certificate Biology and Biology/Life Science subjects at third-level, as well as help with laboratory concepts, research methods and scientific understanding.
My aim is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and can work at a pace that suits them.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs and level of understanding. I aim to make Biology and Science easier to understand by breaking difficult topics down into clear, manageable steps and relating concepts to practical examples wherever possible.
I can provide support with Junior Cycle Science, Leaving Certificate Biology and Biology/Life Science subjects at third-level. Lessons can focus on understanding difficult topics, revising course material, exam preparation, past-paper questions or areas where a student needs extra confidence.
With a First Class Honors degree in Bioanalytical Science, a Master’s in Analytical Science and professional experience in scientific research and third-level laboratory education, I can also help students understand the practical side of science rather than simply memorizing information.
Each lesson will be adapted to the student, whether they need regular weekly support, focused exam preparation or help with a particular topic.
