About Rick
I’m Rick, a Brisbane-based professional photographer, educator and content creator with years of experience behind the camera and working within the photography industry.
My main areas of experience are portrait and headshot photography, lighting and helping people understand their cameras. I know how overwhelming photography can feel when you’re faced with unfamiliar settings and technical language, so I enjoy breaking it down into simple, practical steps.
I want to help students develop more than technical knowledge. My goal is to help you notice light, see photographs differently and gain the confidence to create images you’re genuinely proud of.

Photography should feel enjoyable, not confusing. My lessons are relaxed, practical and personalised to you, your camera and the photographs you want to create. We’ll learn by taking photos together instead of getting lost in complicated technical language.
Depending on your experience and goals, we can cover camera settings, exposure, autofocus, composition, natural light, portraits and basic flash. I’ll explain not only what each setting does, but when and why you would use it.
These lessons are ideal for beginners who want to move beyond automatic mode, understand their camera and take better photographs with confidence. We can meet at a suitable Brisbane location for hands-on learning or arrange an online lesson.

Rick is a wonderful photography teacher and was my first teacher back in 2022.
