About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura!
I’ve been a teacher for many years, and I’ve had the amazing opportunity to teach children in lots of different places and schools. I’ve taught children from Early Years right through to Primary 5, and I’ve taught the British, American and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula.
But enough about school stuff… here’s a little bit about me!
I LOVE learning too!
I’m naturally curious and I’m always learning something new. I love finding fun and creative ways to make tricky things easier to understand.
I’m a big animal lover.
I’m especially fond of cats — so you might hear me mention my cat from time to time!
I’m creative.
I love making things, coming up with ideas and finding different ways to make learning interesting. I don’t think learning always has to mean sitting quietly and filling in worksheets!
I know what it’s like when learning feels difficult.
I have dyslexia myself, so I understand that sometimes your brain just needs information presented in a different way. That’s why I love finding strategies that work for you.
I’m a big believer in having a go.
You don’t have to get everything right straight away. In our lessons, mistakes are completely okay — they’re part of learning!
My favourite thing about teaching is seeing that moment when something suddenly clicks and a child thinks:
“Wait… I can actually do this!”
That’s exactly what I want you to feel during our lessons.
So whether we’re tackling tricky maths, discovering a great book, improving your writing or working out a new strategy that makes learning easier, I’ll be there to cheer you on.
I can’t wait to meet you!

About My Lessons
Learning should feel encouraging, achievable and enjoyable.
I’m a qualified primary teacher with extensive experience across the primary age range and a wide variety of educational settings, including British, American and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula.
My lessons are personalised to each child. I take time to understand their strengths, interests and individual learning needs, creating a calm and supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again.
Alongside my classroom teaching experience, I have five years of nurture experience, supporting children who benefit from additional emotional, social or learning support. I have experience supporting ASN and neurodivergent learners, including children with ASD, and understand the importance of adapting communication, activities, pace and expectations to suit the individual child.
I also have dyslexia myself, which gives me a personal understanding of how frustrating learning can sometimes feel when information is presented in a way that doesn’t work for you. I use a range of practical, accessible and multisensory approaches to help children find strategies that work for them.
I can support children with:
English, Reading & Comprehension
Maths & Numeracy
️ Writing & Spelling
Confidence and Learning Gaps
Dyslexia-friendly learning strategies
ASN and neurodiversity-informed support
What you can expect from my lessons
* Personalised activities matched to your child’s needs and learning goals
* A calm, patient and encouraging approach
* Clear explanations without pressure
* Adapted resources and teaching strategies where needed
* Engaging and practical activities
* A focus on building independence as well as academic skills
* Regular opportunities to celebrate progress and build confidence
I believe that every child can learn, but not every child learns in the same way. My role is to discover what works for your child and help them develop the skills and confidence to succeed.
My aim isn’t simply to help your child get the right answer — it’s to help them feel confident enough to have a go.
If you’re looking for an experienced, patient teacher who will take the time to understand your child as an individual, I’d love to hear from you.
